Contact us completely obligation free to discuss any concerns you have regarding your child’s speech, language or communication skills. You will be offered an appointment for an initial assessment if we feel that speech pathology can benefit your child.

Your child’s first appointment will include gathering a comprehensive case history from you and the administration of a battery of tests that are designed to assess your child’s oral and written communication skills. Test activities are delivered in a fun environment and we ensure that your child feels comfortable and relaxed throughout this first appointment. Assessment results are then communicated to you in a written report with recommendations made for intervention.

Intervention or therapy will be offered if areas of need are identified during your child’s initial assessment appointment. This may take the form of regular visits to the clinic or the provision of a home and/or school programme that addresses areas of need. Your child’s progress and response to intervention will be monitored closely so that optimal results are achieved.

Consultation Rates

Most children require 2 hours of assessment time

A 2 hour appointment where standardised tests are used to assess your child’s speech, language, communication, reading and spelling abilities.

An additional fee of $180 is charged to provide you with a comprehensive report outlining the diagnosis, specific recommendations for intervention and strategies for parents and educators.

Assessments that also require analysis of social skills, reading and/or spelling may require longer than 2 hours. Additional assessment time is billed at $180/hour.

A 1 hour appointment where your child’s communication skills will be screened using informal assessment tools. A brief summary report can be provided for an additional $90.

This is suitable for younger children (toddlers and pre-schoolers) and children with only mild difficulties with speech, language and communication.

School visits for assessment and intervention are available upon request. Permission from your child’s school must be arranged and a suitable working area must be available for your child’s speech pathologist.

The fee for this service depends upon the length of your child’s appointment.

Yes. Learn2Communicate Speech Pathologists each have a Medicare Provider Number. You will be issued with a receipt after each of your child’s sessions. You can use this receipt to claim with your private health fund.
Limited Medicare Rebates are available for children who are referred with a GP Care Plan. This includes children who have complex conditions requiring involvement by at least 2 health professionals and/or children of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
If your child has a NDIS plan, you can access speech pathology services from us if your child’s plan is either Self- or Plan-Managed. We will develop a Service Agreement with you prior to commencing therapy with your child. This will outline all roles and responsibilities, policies, a schedule of services and fees.
This will depend upon your child’s age and diagnosis. Some children attend therapy each week with a review appointment scheduled for the end of each school term. Others attend less frequently and complete programmes at home and school to ensure that regular progress is maintained. A schedule of attendance that suits your family life, finances and other commitments will be discussed with you following your child’s initial assessment.
Payment for your child’s speech pathology sessions is required following each appointment unless otherwise organised with Karen Trengove – Director Learn2Communicate. Eftpos facilities are available. Cash, Cheque and Direct Deposit payments are also accepted. All clients receive SMS and Email reminders 24 hours prior to each appointment. Cancellation charges do apply for late cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice.
